The Best Family-friendly Events in Albuquerque in March

With the temps getting warmer, lots of folks in Albuquerque are on the hunt for fun outings in March, and even better if the events are family friendly. March is jam packed with incredible entertainment at EXPO New Mexico, with lots of options that will appeal to individuals and families alike.

For starters: “SPRING FLING” AT THE FLEA

We’re kicking off the season with a party at the EXPO NM outdoor flea market on Saturday, March 16 and Sunday March 17. If you haven’t been to the market in a while, we highly recommend paying a visit during this special “Spring Fling” celebration.

Not only can you experience the cool shopping and unique finds you’ve come to expect at the flea market, but we’re taking things up a notch with great local entertainment. Guests to the market can enjoy live music by popular bands and performers including the Mango Cakes, Isaic Duran, Triple X, Adunio “Rattlesnake” Garcia, and Andrea Michelle (lead singer of “Divino”). There will also be live radio broadcasts and local organizations will showcase some adorable adoptable pets. In the spirit of the celebration, you can even enter to win Monster Jam tickets!

Insider tip: You can purchase entry at the gate though plan to arrive early for the Spring Fling as it is going to be a busy weekend at EXPO New Mexico! As a general rule, the Flea Market is open on Saturdays and Sundays, from 7am to 3pm, weather permitting.

Save the date: MONSTER JAM

With its fast-paced action and exciting feats, Monster Jam never disappoints. We’re thrilled to announce its return to Tingley Coliseum starting Friday, March 15 with multiple shows throughout the weekend and a handful of associated Monster Jam events. Adults and kids will delight in the giant monster vehicles, racing trucks, and auto sport skills demonstrations.

Fans can also purchase tickets to the pit shows, which afford ticket holders the opportunity to get up close and personal with the 12,000 pound trucks that provide enviable ‘grammable selfie backdrops. The kids will be in awe of these raucous yet mesmerizing big rigs. If you’re a loyal Monster Jam enthusiast, you’ll also want to check out the meet and greet opportunities, which are an add on to the standard ticket as well.

Next Up: GARDEN BROS NUCLEAR CIRCUS

We couldn’t be more excited about this new event at EXPO New Mexico. Starting on March 21 with a total of ten shows running through Sunday, March 24, this five-ring circus sets up under the big top in the EXPO NM infield. The Garden Bros Nuclear Circus has been in operation for over 100 years spanning three generations that have continued to produce the spectacular show.

While many circuses have mostly animal acts, the Garden Bros Nuclear Circus features breathtaking feats performed primarily by humans, with some canines mixed in for good measure. Among them you will find the Sphere of Fear motorcycle ring, spectacularly talented showgirls, and back flipping dogs famously known for their appearances on America’s Got Talent.

Insider tip: Don’t forget to take advantage of the free tickets for kids deal (patrons can get one free ticket for each adult ticket purchased). Also, show up early to enjoy the kids fun zone, packed with fun attractions such as pony rides and face painting, as well as access to delicious fair foods.

Rounding out the Month in Tingley: LOW CLASS NEW MEXICO & FIGHT NIGHT

You can bring the whole family though these events are likely to hold great appeal for the adults among us. The Low Class New Mexico car show sets up in Tingley on March 23 for the one day event that will showcase the best vehicles in the state from tricked out to low and slow. You can check out these awesome vehicles and enjoy live music and other entertainment starting at noon and running through 5 PM.

Finally, you’re not going to want to miss Bareknuckle Fighting Championship 59 Dodson vs. Aguero on March 29 at 7:00 PM. With an incredible headlining match for the flyweight championship as well as a great lineup of other featured bouts, Tingley is going to be supercharged with excitement and anticipation.
